I am a Houston-based freelancer and have written for Parenting, Oxygen, Fit Pregnancy, Seventeen, For Me, Real Health, Planned Parenthood, Pregnancy, Health & Fitness Sports, Career World and Teenwire.com, among others.

Recently, a story I wrote that explored the link between periodontal disease and heart disease for Health & Fitness Sports Magazine earned a 2006 National Health Information Award of Merit and a 2005 Francis C. Moore, MD, Medical Journalism Award of Merit.

When I'm not composing award-winning articles, interviewing, or crafting the perfect query, I spend my time trying to keep up with my overly-active one-year-old son, Darren. During my (almost non-existent) downtime, I can be found reading or catching the latest episodes of Law & Order: SVU and CSI (which I sheepishly admit my son knows the theme song to).
